Before the UFC’s announcement yesterday that Kimbo Slice would meet Matt Mitrione at UFC 113, Mitrione was all dressed up with nowhere to go.
“I texted Joe Silva and asked what was happening, if there was any danger of this being canceled,” Mitrione said to the Las Vegas Sun. “His response was basically that nothing was official and that I should keep preparing — that I’m still fighting in Montreal.”
Kimbo was originally scheduled to face Mitrione at UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on May 8th as the bout was verbally announced by UFC president Dana White following UFC 109.
Now that Mitrione has finally been assigned the foe he’s been waiting for, he can move forward with preparations to take down MMA’s best street fighter.
“Once I turn his chin and put him to sleep, that would be a great amount of exposure and a great stepping stone for my career,” Mitrione commented.
