WEC 47 took place this past weekend at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio; as such it was the Ohio State Athletic Commission that handed down the seven medical suspensions incurred by the fighters.
MMAJunkie.com is reporting that headliners Brian Bowles and Miguel Torres earned indefinite suspensions in their losing efforts. Bowles suffered a hand injury in his fight with Dominick Cruz that will see him out of action until cleared by an orthopedic doctor. Torres received a gnarly cut on his forehead that looked like it came from a hatchet and not a Joseph Benavidez elbow strike. A surgeon will have to give him the okay before he can get back to competition.
60 day precautionary suspensions were given out to Danny Castillo, Courtney Buck, Bendy Casimir.
Chad Mendes also received a 60 day suspension for a cut.
