As we reported on Friday, a heavyweight showdown between Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Pat Barry is set for UFC 115 on June 12th in Vancouver, Canada.
MMAScrapsRadio.com first broke the news Friday afternoon and it has since been confirmed by multiple media outlets.
Cro Cop just took a second round TKO win over Anthony Perosh at UFC 110 last weekend. He’s now won four of his last five bouts and owns an impressive 26-7-2 record.
Barry is coming off the biggest night of his professional career when he handed Antoni Hardonk a vicious TKO loss at UFC 104 in November. The win bumped his record to an impressive 5-1.
Barry was originally slated to face Gilbert Yvel inside the GM Place, however MMAJunkie.com reported earlier today the organization opted to promote the slugger for a potential shootout with CC and have Ben Rothwell take on Yvel instead.
Rothwell was forced to pull out of this past Saturday’s match with Cro Cop due to a severe case of traveler’s flu. Although he was hopeful to get a do-over against the Croatian, it looks like he’ll have to settle for the Dutchman instead.
Yvel, who owns a 36-14-1 pro record, made his Octagon debut earlier this month at UFC 108. Although the Dutchman was grateful to finally get an opportunity to compete on MMA’s biggest stage, he was hoping for a better result than the first round TKO loss Junior Dos Santos handed him.
Here are the fighters slated for the pay-per-view broadcast:
Mike Pyle vs. Jesse Lennox
Peter Sobotta vs. James Wilks
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald
Evan Dunham vs. Tyson Griffin
Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel
Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Pat Barry
Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva
Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz
