According to a report on Sherdog.com, CBS has confirmed that the next Strikeforce show on the network will take place on April 17 from the Sommet Center in Nashville, TN.
During a pre-fight press conference yesterday to promote their M-1 Selection Eastern European event in St. Petersburg, Russia, M-1 Global, the company that represents Fedor Emelianenko, told TV 100 that the heavyweight will not be participating on Strikeforce’s CBS broadcast in April.
M-1 Global representatives did confirm that Fedor’s bout against Fabricio Werdum is still on, however it would take place at a Strikeforce event in May. However, the Sherdog report notes that the Russian heavyweight may not even fight on the May card as his management is working with Strikeforce to re-tool the terms of Emelianenko’s existing contract.
Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields will defend his title against Dan Henderson on the CBS show, while light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi is also expected to defend his title against Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal in a second title matchup. Herschel Walker has reportedly been called to fight on the card as well.
