Those of you who watched the UFC 110 post-fight press conference may have noticed that the fighter sitting next to Wanderlei Silva carried his arm in a sling. That was James Te Huna (12-4), who made his UFC debut that night in Sydney, Australia; winning that fight by TKO (strikes) in the third round despite breaking his arm in the second.
Te Huna was matched against Croatian fighter, and “Cro Cop” training partner, Igor Pokrajac (21-7) in a light heavyweight bout. MMAFighting.com issued a report today confirming that Te Huna will likely be out for several weeks because of the injury. The break probably occurred in the second round when Te Huna blocked a kick delivered by Pokrajac; accomplishing the same feat that Randy Couture managed when he broke his arm blocking a kick while successfully defending his heavyweight title against Gabriel Gonzaga.
The 28 year old Te Huna is currently on a six fight win streak; his last loss came via TKO due to a shoulder injury. With his gutsy and exciting performance it is a sure bet that we will see the native New Zealander back in the Octagon when his arm heals.
