UFC 110 took place this weekend inside the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. Not only did it mark the UFC’s debut down under, but it was a record setting day as well.
UFC president Dana White reported that 17,831 fans packed the Acer Arena on Saturday night, garnering the UFC $2.5 million at the gate. Although the numbers are unofficial, UFC 110 was the second fastest sell-out in company history so the final tallies shouldn’t be too far off.
“Our first trip to Australia was very successful,” White said.
White stated that UFC 110 is now the highest-grossing sporting event in Acer Arena history, and the MMA powerhouse also took over the top spot for merchandise sales for a live show as well.
Due to their overwhelming success, the brash Prez all but promised the Aussies an annual event.
