UFC 110 might mark the middleweight debut for Wanderlei Silva, but the former PrideFC champ appears to know exactly what to expect when he faces Michael Bisping this weekend.
“I’ve studied his game. I know all movements. I’m ready for him,” Silva told MMAWeekly.com. “In his head he thinks he’s going to get me with the takedown and want to fight me like he did in the second round with Denis Kang. It’s not going to happen. He’s going to need to fight with me in stand-up. He’s never going to take me to the ground.”
Despite not winning back-to-back fights in three-and-a-half years, the 33-year-old Silva believes his recent drop to the middleweight division will help prolong his illustrious career and he’s ready to show his mettle once again.
“I feel great. I feel my technique growing up; my cardio is amazing. I feel really, really, really good,” Silva stated. “I need to prove [myself all over again] and I’m going to prove that I’m ready for this.”
