MMAJunkie.com is reporting that the UFC has signed undefeated welterweight Daniel Roberts (9-0) to a four fight deal; Roberts will make his debut against John “Doomsday” Howard (13-4) at “UFC On Versus 1″ as a replacement for an injured Anthony Johnson (8-3).
It was reported yesterday that Johnson was being forced out of the UFC’s inaugural live show on Versus due to a knee injury; putting a halt to the developing grudge match against Howard.
Daniel “Ninja” Roberts is undefeated in nine fights as a professional mixed martial artist and has been competing as a pro for over two years. Seven of his nine wins have come by submission and the other two by decision. His last fight was against Anthony Macias (25-12) on January 10 at a 5150 Combat League/XFL show.
John Howard is undefeated in three fights in the UFC and holds a 13-4 overall MMA record. He made his UFC debut against Chris Wilson and defeated him by split decision. His next fight, against Tamdan McCrory, also resulted in a split decision win. His most recent fight was against Dennis Hallman at “The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale” and saw him win by knockout.
“UFC On Versus 1″ is headlined by Brandon Vera Vs. Jon Jones at light heavyweight and will take place on March 21 at the Odeum Colorado in Broomfield, CO.
