MMAFighting.com is reporting that a verbal agreement to fight has been struck between “The Ultimate Fighter: United States Vs. United Kingdom” alum DaMarques Johnson (10-7) and “Bad” Brad Blackburn (15-10-1). The fight is scheduled to take place at UFC 112 but bout agreements have yet to be signed.
27 fight veteran and IFL contender Brad Blackburn entered the UFC when the International Fight League promotion went under. Blackburn made his debut at “UFC Fight Night 14: Silva Vs. Irvin” and defeated James Giboo by TKO (strikes) in the second round. “Bad” Brad then posted two decision wins over Ryo Chonan and Edgar Garcia before being defeated by TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah in his last outing at “UFC Fight Night 20: Maynard Vs. Diaz”.
Utah native DaMarques Johnson snapped a two fight losing streak by defeating Edgar Garcia (a common opponent between Blackburn and Johnson) by triangle choke in the first round at “UFC 107: Penn Vs. Sanchez”. Johnson was a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter: United States Vs. United Kingdom” and lost to the UK’s James Wilks at the show’s finale. That loss marked the beginning of his UFC career.
UFC 112 will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on April 10. The card features two title defenses; BJ Penn defending the lightweight belt against Frankie Edgar and Anderson Silva defending the middleweight strap against replacement fighter Demian Maia. Matt Hughes and Renzo Gracie will also square off in a welterweight match.
