Vitor Belfort Out Of UFC 112 Fight Against Anderson Silva

It has been confirmed that an injured shoulder will force middleweight top contender Vitor Belfort out of his UFC 112 title fight against champion Anderson Silva.

Popular Brazilian website,, was the first to break the news after speaking with Jayme Sandall, Belfort’s Karate coach, who stated the challenger had hurt himself while training.

Kevin Iole of Yahoo!Sports has since confirmed Belfort’s injury with UFC president Dana White via text message. White said that Silva would remain on the card, however would not reveal whom he would face or if it would be a championship bout.

No word on what the UFC’s next move might be, however, after coming off of a lopsided three round battle this weekend at UFC 109, red-hot Chael Sonnen told Ariel Helwani on Tuesday that he’s resumed training in case an injury took place.

UFC 112 will be take place inside the Concert Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The event will be headlined by UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn defending his title against top contender Frank Edgar.
