Who better to have as a corner man and training partner than the man who has fought Michael Bisping’s opponent three times—decisively knocked out his impending foe the last time they fought? How about Hollywood B.A. and fellow Wolfslair fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson?
MMAfighting.com has recently reported that former light-heavyweight champion, Rampage Jackson, will make his long awaited return to the octagon—as part of Bisping’s cage entourage.
“Rampage is with me right now in Australia,” Bisping said. “He’s been with my training camp the last few weeks now.”
The Brit, after coming off an impressive TKO win over Denis Kang at UFC 105, explained during a press conference for UFC 110 Wednesday, that preparing for his fight with Jackson had tremendous strategic advantages as well as relief from the riggers of training.
“Having Rampage in the camp for the last few weeks gives me great insight into the fight,” he said. “Obviously he’s got a long history with Wanderlei, so he brings some good strategy to the table and told me what to expect. Just having someone like Rampage with his vast experience of the fight game around in camp, is a good thing psychologically.
It’s also good to break up the boredom. When the training gets to be a bit hard, he’s also good for a laugh as well. But as I said someone with his experience and knowing Wanderlei as well as he does, it’s been invaluable having him and helping me with strategy.”
Bisping will get a chance to return the favor to Jackson in the coming months. The brash and animated Pride FC veteran makes an in-ring appearance at UFC 114 against Ultimate Fighter rival Rashad Evans—a match originally slated for last December before Jackson decided to exchange his fighting obligations for a chance to reprise Mr. T’s role as B.A. Baracus in the new remake of The A-Team.
It has been rumored that the movie will be released two weeks after UFC 114 on May 29th.
