Just hours after reports surfaced that the UFC cut Hall of Famer Mark Coleman, reports are surfacing that they have also just released lightweight Phillipe Nover.
Heavy.com was the first to report on Nover’s firing.
Once hailed as the “next Anderson Silva” by UFC president Dana White when Nover was a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter 8,” things never really panned out for the part-time nurse.
After reaching the TUF finals, Nover lost his next three bouts including the six-figure contract to Efrain Escudero.
Although the UFC had high hopes for him, the promotion decided to release the Filipino fighter following his loss to Rob Emerson over the weekend.
