5thRound.com has just confirmed that welterweight Martin Kampmann has been forced to pull out of his UFC 111 fight against Ben Saunders due to a cut over his right eye.
Ken Pavia, Kampmann’s agent, confirmed his client’s injury with 5thRound.com Tuesday afternoon, however this news doesn’t come as a complete shock after seeing Kampmann over the UFC 109 weekend.
The welterweight was sporting a significant wound over his right eye which had several fresh stitches in it (please see picture above). Although Kampmann didn’t appear too worried about the laceration, it seems he’s going to need more time than the March 27th deadline.
Kampmann has won three of his last four fights and stakes claim to an impressive 16-3 mark overall. He bounced back nicely from his UFC 103 TKO loss to Paul Daley by submitting Jacob Volkmann in the first round of their UFC 108 contest.
No word on who Saunders will now face inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
