“UFC 109: Relentless” had the 10th highest gate for any UFC event held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center according to MMAJunkie.
There’s no doubt that the UFC has to be pleased with the turnout for what Randy Couture said should’ve been called the “Geezers at Caesar’s”.
UFC 109 drew 10,687 people to the Mandalay Bay Events Center and raked in $2.27 million at the gate.
The main event featured a bout that was 12 years in the making between Randy Couture and the first-ever UFC heavyweight champ Mark Coleman.
Couture easily took care of business against a clearly aged Coleman as he submitted Coleman in the second round.
Chael Sonnen shocked the middleweight division in the night’s co-main event by taking a unanimous decision over Nate Marquardt to earn himself a shot at the middleweight title.
