Though Tito Ortiz wasn’t one of the participants for UFC 109, he was quite possibly involved in the biggest storyline of the night. While Mark Coleman was trying to get through his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan following the loss to Randy Couture, Coleman, with the microphone in hand, responded with some choice words to Tito as Ortiz apparently said something negative to Coleman as he walked by.
What was it all about? Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting caught up with Ortiz to figure it out.
When asked what it was exactly that he said to Coleman, Ortiz responded, “I said paybacks are a motherf***er. He talked a bunch of s**t about my girl and my family. And you don’t do that. You don’t bring personal s**t into my life. I defend my family. For him and his manager to say the stuff they did… you just don’t say stuff like that.”
Ortiz also touched on how the taping of TUF 11 is going, which is set to debut this March.
“Things are going very well. There’s no drama between the coaches, only the fighters. We got some really top-level guys here. It’s the best season ever. I guarantee you!”
Later, Ortiz addressed his recent comments about Chuck Liddell where he called “The Iceman” an alcoholic. Ortiz says he didn’t mean for it to come out that way.
“People took it out of context. I was trying to say I’m proud of him for being sober. I went through the same type of stuff he did. I’m proud of him. I’m not trying to talk smack.”
