MMAJunkie.com is reporting that UK fighter Paul “Relentless” Taylor (10-5-1) will drop from welterweight to lightweight and will take on John Gunderson (22-7) at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.
Taylor has had mixed results in his seven UFC appearances. While he is known as an exciting fighter, the Team Supreme product has gone 3-4 in the UFC and his last five fights have ended by decision. He made his UFC debut at “UFC 70: Nations Collide” in 2007 against Edilberto de Oliveira, which he won by TKO due to strikes. His last fight, which was at “UFC 105: Couture Vs. Vera”, saw Taylor walk away with a unanimous decision loss to John Hathaway.
29 fight veteran John Gunderson made his UFC debut at “UFC 108: Evans Vs. Silva” where he lost by unanimous decision to Rafaello Oliveira. Former IFL fighter Gunderson used to train out of Ken Shamrock’s Lion’s Den and now splits his training between Xtreme Couture and TapouT.
With both fighters still looking to prove themselves in the UFC and coming off of losses, it can be expected that this is a matchup that will see the loser go home.
