MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Frank Trigg will join Randy Couture as the only other current UFC fighter to make an appearance in the “EA Sports MMA” videogame. The game is slated to come out in the summer of 2010 and will be released on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles.
Dana White and the UFC expressly prohibited any fighters under contract with the UFC from making an appearance in the long-planned EA Sports game as soon as it was announced to be in development. Couture was able to slip onto the game’s roster of fighters while he was in a contract dispute with the UFC and Trigg made his deal well before re-signing with the UFC in May of 2009.
Besides Trigg and Couture, the list of fighters to appear in the game includes Jake Shields, Frank Shamrock, Fedor Emelianenko, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Bobby Lashley, Shinya Aoki, Hidehiko Yoshida, Cung Le, Gilbert Melendez, Robbie Lawler, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Matt Lindland, Scott Smith, Josh Thomson, Nick Thompson, Brett Rogers,Gegard Mousasi, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Tim Kennedy and Jay Hieron.
The release of this game will mark EA Sports’ first foray into the world of MMA. The game developer is best known for its “Madden NFL” and “Tiger Woods PGA Tour” titles.
