World Extreme Cagefighting has just announced that their WEC 48 event on April 24th will mark the organization’s first ever pay-per-view broadcast.
“We wanted to wait until we had this type of card to go to pay-per-view,” WEC general manager Reed Harris told the Associated Press. “We didn’t want to do a pay-per-view show until fans would say at the end of the night, ‘This was worth it.’ This will truly be the biggest event we’ve ever done.”
Arco Arena in Sacramento, California will feature a pair of title fights as lightweight champion Ben Henderson will defend his strap in a highly anticipated rematch with Donald Cerrone. Henderson captured the interim title at WEC 43 when he took a unanimous decision over the “Cowboy.”
The $44.99 PPV card will be headlined by a blockbuster featherweight title match between reigning champ Jose Aldo and former king Urijah Faber.
Former 145-pound title holder Mike Brown also will meet Manny Gamburyan on the card as well.
