WEC general manager Reed Harris quietly confirmed on Dave and Mahoney in the Morning that a blockbuster featherweight title match between reigning champ Jose Aldo and former king Urijah Faber will headline their first pay-per-view event sometime in May.
“I think the Aldo-Faber fight could truly be one of the most exciting fights ever in the sport of MMA,” Harris said of the explosive matchup.
Although Harris was able to officially announce who would be headlining the organization’s first PPV broadcast, he wasn’t able to confirm a specific date or venue.
“There’s a couple of venues we’re looking at,” Harris stated. “Hopefully in the next week, 10 days we’re gonna have an announcement.”
One thing Harris was pretty decisive about was the price tag for their debut into the lucrative pay-per-view world … “$44.95.”
Although that price point is ideal, it isn’t set in stone as the WEC frontman understands MMA fans may be reluctant to pay UFC dollars to see their sister company’s athletes perform.
