The UFC will make its Versus debut on March 21st in Broomfield, CO at the Odeum Colorado. Sherdog .com is reporting that nine matches have seen the green light for the stalwart MMA promotion’s newest attempt at expansion on cable.
TUF 10 finalist Brendan Schaub will attempt to redeem himself after a loss in The Ultimate Fighter 10 finale to Roy “Big Country” Nelson as he takes on California native Chase Gormley.
Light heavy weight sluggers James Irvin and Alessio Sakara will meet in a preliminary bout. Sakara is riding a two fight win streak and Irvin has not competed since his brutal knockout loss to pound-for-pound great Anderson Silva in July 2008.
Coming off of a unanimous decision loss to TUF 8 winner Ryan Bader, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Eric Schafer will take on Jason Brilz.
Rounding out the card is the featured matchup that pits the talented Brandon Vera against rising star Jon Jones. Gabriel Gonzaga will attempt to put an end to Black House product Junior Dos Santos’ title hopes in the co-main event.
Other bouts (some rumored, some confirmed) include:
-Cheick Kong Vs. Paul Buentello
-Anthony Johnson Vs. Paul Howard
-Clay Guida Vs. Shannon Gugerty
-Eliot Marshall Vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
-Duane Ludwig Vs. Spencer Fisher
-Mike Pierce Vs. Rob Kimmons
The UFC is looking to impress with its Versus debut and with a card that is stacked from top to bottom it seems that they will do just that.
