Brock Lesnar’s much publicized battle with diverticulitis appears to have come to an end. On Wednesday, Brock and Dana White appeared on SportsCenter to announce that the current UFC Heavyweight champ would be back to defend his title this summer and the UFC documented his return in a recently released video.
“I got very, very sick. It was a challenging time,” Lesnar admitted in the video. “I thought my career had ended. But thank God and my family that I’m back.”
Despite the doubts by fans and industry members that will surely creep up about his ability and conditioning level after suffering the illness, Lesnar says there won’t be any more problems.
“I’m feeling 100%. I haven’t felt like this for a year and a half. I lost a lot a weight. For a while I thought I would go to 205, but I like my steak and potatoes too much. Now I gotta eat my ruff-ge too.”
If you think his battle with the serious illness may have humbled him, don’t.
“When I left the hospital, the next day I was in the gym,” he stated. “I’ve had to work up from ground zero and build my base up again. But I’m alive and well and ready to kick some ass.”
