Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin underwent successful hernia surgery last week, according to a report on The Dayton Daily News.
“No complications, no surprises” said Franklin’s manager, J.T. Stewart, of the Jan. 12 surgery. “He is fine.”
Stewart noted that Franklin is still looking to return in May or June. The former 185-pound king is hoping to make a return at UFC 113 on May 1st if he can get cleared in time to put together a solid training camp.
UFC 113 is taking place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on May 1st. The main event features a rematch between light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. A grudge match between Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is also expected to take place at the event.
