According to a recent report on MMA Fanhouse, Kurt Pellegrino (14-4) has recovered from a back injury that forced him out of a proposed bout with Frankie Edgar (11-1) and is now slated to face Fabricio Camoes (10-4-1) at UFC 111 on March 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. The bout has been verbally agreed upon by both fighters but the official signing of the bout agreements has not taken place.
Pellegrino rebounded from a second round submission loss to Nate Diaz at UFC Fight Night 13 with three straight wins over solid competition in Thiago Tavares, Rob Emerson and most recently Josh Neer.
Relative newcomer Fabricio “Morango” Camoes fought Caol Uno to a draw (the fifth man to do so) in his UFC debut. Morango is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Royler Gracie and trains out of The Arena gym in San Diego with the likes of Diego Sanchez and Rani Yahya.
UFC 111 will feature a welterweight title match between Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy and Georges “Rush” St. Pierre and a fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin for the interim heavyweight title.
