UFC welterweight Dan Hardy has the opportunity of a lifetime when he takes on UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 111. Hardy says that he has been studying the champion, and will be well-prepared to take on the French-Canadian fighter when they meet in March.
“We know GSP’s game plan,” Hardy told The Telegraph Sport. “He had his wrestling coach with him the whole time while he was in Las Vegas at UFC 108 during the New Year. I’ve been working hard on clinch to takedown.”
Hardy will be training with Mac Danzig and George Sotiropolous prior to the bout. Despite having new training partners, Hardy doesn’t plan to deliver any surprises in his strategy.
“There will be no surprises, really,” he stated. “If I land I’ll hurt him. It’s not about being cautious, it’s about believing what I can do in there, and taking my opportunity…”
The highly anticipated bout will be one of two title fights at UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy on March 27, 2010 from Newark, NJ. The card also features an interim heavyweight championship bout between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.
