Brock Lesnar’s Trainer Says Lesnar "Is Definitely Coming Back"

While UFC President Dana White maintains that he is uncertain if UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will ever fight again, Lesnar’s trainer, Greg Nelson, told ESPN’s MMA Live show today that Lesnar will definitely fight again.

“Brock Lesnar is definitely coming back to fight,” Nelson told host Jon Anik. “And he’s just kind of coming up slowly, training, trying to get his body ready and being smart with his recovery.”

White announced earlier this week that he and Brock Lesnar will hold a press conference early next week to update the MMA world on the heavyweight champion’s health status. As for what the topics of discussion will be, White remained mum on the matter per Team Lesnar’s request.

“That’s the surprise for everybody,” Nelson said. “I’m not sure of the expectations at this point right now.

“He’s been going in to the doctor and making sure everything’s going well for him,” he continued. “He’ll continue to go in for a couple more tests to make sure he’s 100 percent ready to train when he starts up. He still has a few more things to go through.”

Nelson went on to note that Lesnar will probably return to the cage faster than people expect.

“He’s used to dealing with diversity and stuff like that, I think he’ll be able to come back faster probably than people expect, but we’re not going to push the river at all,” he stated. “We want him to be 100% when he starts to train, but being the tough guy and athlete the majority of his life, he’s been able to deal with adversity like this, so I’m sure once he gets going, he’ll be at the top of his game real quick.”
