After suffering the first loss of his professional career at UFC Fight Night 20, Efrain Escudero immediately left the Octagon to get his injured arm checked out. The good news is that the x-rays revealed Escudero’s arm is not broken, however some tendons were “a little messed up.”
Escudero came out like a house on fire against Evan Dunham on Monday night, stunning Dunham on several occasions in the first round, but was unable to finish off his opponent.
Dunham survived the early onslaught and caught Escudero in a nice armbar that nobody could have gotten out of. However, instead of tapping, Escudero went Ultimate Warrior-with it and refused to give up until the pain was far to great, thankfully nothing snapped.
Many questioned why Escudero held out for so long, but that’s the kind of fighter he is. All heart, all the time, even if it could cost him a limb.
Thankfully, Escudero will be fine and is looking forward to a quick return to the Octagon.
