Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva has always been a fan favorite. From his days in Pride to his recent run in the UFC, fans of the sport know that when Silva fights, they best be watching. Wanderlei returns to the octagon to face Michael Bisping at UFC 110, whom he plans on knocking out.
“Second round would be good,” Silva said during the UFC 108 Q&A last week, on when he was planning to knock “The Count” out. “I’m shooting for round one, of course.”
While there are many challenges for Wanderlei in the UFC, he said that he would most like to face someone he’s recently fought. According to “The Axe Murderer”, a rematch with Rich Franklin would be the most intriguing fight for him.
“I would like to face Dan Henderson, but he’s gone now,” said Wanderlei. “So I’d like a rematch with Rich Franklin. It was a very close fight. I thought I won the fight, the judges thought he won it. So that’s a fight I would like to have again.”
Silva was later asked about how badly he wanted to fight Anderson Silva (the two fighters shared unpleasantries awhile back).
“I talked with Anderson, we had our problems, but at this moment I don’t what to fight with him. He’s the champ, so I need to prove that I deserve the fight.”
Fans of “The Axe Murderer” don’t have to wait too much longer to see Silva back in action, as he and Bisping are scheduled to co-main event UFC 110 in Sydney, Australia on February 20th.
