Apparently there is no RSVP deadline for DYNAMITE!! 2009: Dream vs. WVR on New Year’s Eve as the highly anticipated Japanese MMA/Kickboxing card will be bolstered with the addition of Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi.
MMAJunkie.com spoke with Mousasi’s manager and M-1 Global executive, Apy Echteld, who confirmed that his client was already on a plane destined for the Orient. As we noted yesterday in our ‘Quick Shots’, Mousasi will stand opposite veteran Gary Goodridge in an MMA bout.
Goodridge holds a 23-19-1 record, however is currently on the wrong end of a four-fight streak. He was last seen getting submitted by Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem in November 2008 and hasn’t been heard from since.
Mousasi owns an impressive 27-2-1 record and is regarded by many as MMA’s best unknown superstar. After claiming Dream’s Middleweight Grand Prix in 2008, Mousasi voluntarily left the strap behind to focus on the 205-pound division.
