Dan Henderson just signed his contract with Strikeforce and is already looking to fight for a title. Hendo said on Saturday that he will likely face Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields in his debut at the Strikeforce CBS event in April.
“We’ll see what happens but that’s definitely a good possibility for my first fight,” Henderson said following the Strikeforce: Evolution event on Saturday. “We’ll have to talk to Scott [Coker, president of Strikeforce] here and hopefully Jake doesn’t run back down to 170.”
Shields recently beat Jason Miller to win the vacant middleweight title. Aside from Shields, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker sees other match-up’s in Henderson’s future.
“He wants to fight the world’s best,” Coker said. “And Fedor’s here, Gegard Mousasi is here and Jake Shields is here, and those are three big fights for him.”
No official date or location has been announced for the Strikeforce CBS event in April.
