UFC 108 Curse Continues: Sherk Out Of Bout With Miller, Ludwig In

Just one week after reporting that Tyson Griffin suffered an injury while training forcing him to withdraw from his UFC 108 bout with Jim Miller, comes word that Griffin’s replacement, Sean Sherk, has also been injured and will not be able to face Miller.

Sherk was originally scheduled to face Rafaello Oliveira at the event in a preliminary bout, but was promoted to the main card after Griffin’s injury while the UFC found a replacement opponent for Oliveira. is reporting that Duane Ludwig will now face Miller. Ludwig hasn’t fought in the UFC since January of 2006, when he defeated Jonathan Goulet at Ultimate Fight Night 3. Since then, Ludwig has been 7-5, most recently being defeated by submission in the first round by Lyle Beerbohm at ShoMMA 2: Villasenor vs. Cyborg this past June.

Meanwhile, Sherk joins Griffin, Rory Markham, Anderson Silva, Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Gabriel Gonzaga, and Carlos Condit on the ever-growing list of fighters who were slated for the card that have had to withdraw due to injuries.

UFC 108 will be taking place on January 2, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The event is headlined by a light-heavyweight clash between Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva.
