UFC fans can now catch even more action on Spike TV. The cable channel announced on Wednesday that they will be airing 10 preliminary-card specials before the biggest UFC pay-per-view events next year.
The free one-hour specials are entitled “UFC Prelim” and are slated to start airing on Spike TV on January 2, 2010. The cable station will air the first prelim show before the UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva card, and a second prelim show is set to air on February 6 prior to the UFC 109: Couture vs. Coleman card.
The decision to air more prelim shows on Spike comes after the high ratings for the show in 2009. The prelims were aired 3 times in 2009, drawing 1.3- 1.4 million viewers on each occasion. UFC officials hope that viewers who tune in to see the prelim fights on Spike are then encouraged to order the headlining bouts on pay-per-view.
