It was reported earlier this week that Brandon Vera’s UFC 109 fight against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira was off and he would now be assigned to the up-and-coming Jon Jones. Although the light heavyweight scrap is still a-go, word on the street is that Jones’ camp has requested, and been granted, to have the fight pushed back a month.
Sherdog.com is reporting that the two will now tango at a yet-to-be announced March 21st card in Denver, Colorado, which will be broadcast live on Versus. The edgy network has only shown the UFC’s sister promotion, World Extreme Cagefighting, events in the past, however recently announced they will be airing two live UFC shows in the new year.
Although Jones is physically fit to compete on the original February 6th show, his manager, Ryan Ciotoli, told the website that Jones requested the extra time to be with his wife and newborn daughter.
