During last weekend’s “UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez” pay-per-view, the UFC officially announced that Junior dos Santos will be taking on fellow heavyweight Gilbert Yvel at “UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva” in January.
UFC 108 has been plagued from the beginning with fighters getting injured and/or sick and forced off of the card.
The addition of the dos Santos vs. Yvel bout comes on the heels of the announcements of Tyson Griffin being replaced by Sean Sherk and Dustin Hazelett filling in for the injured Carlos Condit.
The main event for the January 2nd card will feature the return of former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, who will take on Thiago Silva.
Evans last fought at UFC 98 where he was knocked out for the first time of his career by current champion Lyoto Machida.
