UFC President Dana White said during the UFC 107 post-fight conference that he has to wait about a month before finding out if heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will need major surgery caused by an intestinal infection that has sidelined the heavyweight. White stated that if Lesnar is not healthy enough to fight anytime soon, then an interim title will be created.
“We’ll know in a month to a month and a half if [Lesnar] is going to need a major surgery,” White stated. “If he needs major surgery, we’ll do an interim title.”
One person looking forward to Lesnar’s recovery is Frank Mir, who is coming off an impressive win over Cheick Kongo at UFC 107. Mir is looking to redeem himself after being dominated by Lesnar at UFC 100 earlier this year.
“I want Brock to get healthy to be honest with you,” Mir said at the UFC 107 post fight conference. “I want that fight.”
