A welterweight bout between Josh Koscheck and Paulo Thiago is in the works for UFC 109 on February 6th. Thiago shocked the MMA world when he TKO’d Koscheck at UFC 95 in the first round of their matchup last February.
AOL FanHouse was the first to report the potential top contender matchup, with the victor earning the right to face the winner of champion Georges St-Pierre’s fight with Dan Hardy. That bout is rumored to be taking place at UFC 111 in New Jersey.
Jon Fitch, Koshcheck’s teammate, was able to avenge the loss by taking an easy unanimous decision over Thiago at UFC 100. The Brazilian was able to bounce back from his only professional blemish by posting a unanimous decision of his own over Jacob Volkmann UFC 106 last month.
Speaking of UFC 106, Kos unleashed his most impressive professional performance against Anthony Johnson that same evening inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas. He executed a perfect gameplan that enabled him to earn a second-round rear-naked submission victory.
UFC 109 has not been officially announced by the organization, however it is expected to take place Super Bowl weekend at the Mandalay Bay. Here are the other fighters rumored to be participating in the show:
