Just over a week after losing to Kendall Grove submission (triangle choke) in the first round at UFC 106, the UFC has released middleweight Jake Rosholt.
“Not a good day. Just found out I got cut by the UFC,” Rosholt announced today on his Twitter account.
Before his loss to Grove, Rosholt looked impressive at UFC 102 where he earned himself “Submission of the Night” honors for his arm-triangle choke on Chris Leben en route to a third round victory over “The Crippler”.
“I didn’t think he’d be released,” Rosholt’s manager, Ted Ehrhardt, said to Sherdog.com. “He had one fight left on his contract, and we thought he’d at least get that. He had a good performance [against Grove] up until he got caught. He was winning the fight. He’s young. We’ll go out and get some wins and be back.”
