We reported a couple of weeks ago that Randy Couture and Mark Coleman had verbally agreed to a bout at UFC 109 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas, NV, making it the first time that two UFC hall of famers have faced each other. According to a report on MMAJunkie.com, vice president of Coleman sponsor MMA Authentics Mike DiSabato confirmed the bout.
The bout will not be the first time that Couture and Coleman have faced each other, as the two wrestled one another in a freestyle match at the 1989 Olympic Festival at Oklahoma State, which Coleman won by one point.
Coleman and Couture were then scheduled to square off at UFC 17: Redemption on May 15, 1998, however the bout was canceled after Couture suffered an injury and was never rescheduled.
“Better now than never!” DiSabato stated.
Couture is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over the much younger Brandon Vera at UFC 105, while Coleman is also coming off a unanimous decision victory over a much younger opponent as he defeated Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100 this past July.
UFC 109 will take place on February 6, 2010 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
