Spike TV officially announced today that Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson will compete at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale on December 5th. Spike TV didn’t officially announce Kimbo’s opponent, simply stating that, “Slice’s opponent will be announced at a later date, pending on what transpires on the special two-hour The Ultimate Fighter episode on Wednesday, December 2. Despite suffering a loss in episode 3 to Roy Nelson, Slice has the opportunity to return to fight on the show if a cast mate is injured and compete for the coveted title of The Ultimate Fighter.”
While Spike TV would not announce Kimbo’s opponent, we reported earlier this month that Slice would face Houston “The Assassin” Alexander at the event, presumably at a catchweight of 215 pounds.
TUF 10 saw it’s highest ratings ever when Slice took on former IFL champion Roy Nelson during this season’s third episode. UFC officials are hoping to top those numbers for the finale event.
Both fighters have similar fighting styles, as both are well known for their strong standup and less than stellar ground game. Both fighters also have something to prove, as Slice is seeking a win in his first UFC appearance, and it’s been over 2 years since Alexander last celebrated a victory in the UFC.
