Forrest Griffin "Excited" For UFC 106 Bout With Tito Ortiz

Former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin says he’s amped up for his main event bout with Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 this Saturday.

“I’m really excited about this fight,” Griffin told

“I get to be a headline fight coming off two losses, and that’s a big deal for me right now.”

Griffin is coming off of back-to-back losses to Rashad Evans and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The season 1 TUF winner says that he will do anything to break his losing streak.

“I’m not looking to make a statement,” Griffin admitted. “I’m looking to win a fight any way that can happen. I’ll take anything. I don’t care. I’m not looking for something spectacular.”

Ortiz and Griffin faced each other once before at UFC 59, which resulted in a controversial split-decision victory for Ortiz.

“It was a long time ago,” Griffin said of his previous bout with Ortiz. “I’m a lot different. I’m sure Tito’s a lot different, so you want to take what it has to offer but with a grain and salt.”

Now, the 30-year old looks towards the future and is “excited” to take on Ortiz in the evening’s main event.

“I get to be in there and be the last fight of the night and that’s really an honor,” he stated.

Griffin faces Ortiz at UFC 106 this Saturday. The event takes place inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
