Former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk recently told WICombatSports.com that he will return to the octagon at UFC 108 in January.
“I’m fighting January 2 against Rafaello Oliveira,” Sherk stated. “I haven’t studied him yet but I know he has fought my training partner Nick Lentz in Dallas. Lentz beat him, and he’s been able to give me some good advice on him.”
Sherk was slated to face Gleison Tibau at UFC 104 last month, but was forced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury. Sherk last fought at UFC 98: Evans vs Machida in May, where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Frankie Edgar.
UFC 108 takes place on January 2, 2010 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event is headlined by Rashad Evans facing Thiago Silva.
