UFC 105: Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick

Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick

Round 1: Hardy caught Swick with a knee to the face early when Swick was trying to take Hardy down. Swick clinched Hardy against the cage. Swick accidentally caught Hardy with a low blow, causing a short break in the action to allow Hardy to recover. Swick pushed Hardy to the cage again, and attempted a takedown, which was stuffed. Hardy was able to reverse it and press Swick against the cage, and landed some knees of his own. They exchanged blows towards the end of the round, and went back to the center of the cage as the round came to an end. scores the round 10-9 for Swick.

Round 2: Hardy clipped Swick early and pressed him against the cage, which allowed Swick to recover. Hardy controlled Swick against the cage and connected with several left hands to the body. After a couple of minutes against the cage, they were separated. Swick was able to land a nice combination and landed a couple of good shots. scores the round 10-9 for Hardy.

Round 3: Both fighters exchanged early, and both men connected with some good shots in the opening minute. Hardy tagged Swick and hurt him, followed up with a kick and then went for a takedown. Swick was able to turn it into a guillotine, but Hardy was able to shrug himself out and get inside of Swick’s guard. Hardy dropped elbows on Swick, while Swick was looking to lock in a triangle. They were finally stood back up. Hardy continued to push forward and control the tempo. Swick clinched Hardy against the cage and Hardy turned him around as the round came to an end. scores the round 10-9 for Hardy.

Dan Hardy defeated Mike Swick via unanimous decision (scores of 30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

After the bout, Hardy apologized for not finishing Swick. Georges St-Pierre came in the cage and noted that Hardy deserved a shot at his title.
