Marlos Coenen moved up to the top of contenders for Strikeforce Womens Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos after defeating Roxanne Modafferi via submission with an armbar at 1:03 of the first round this past Saturday night at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers. In an exclusive interview with Ray Flores of FightLine.com shortly after the event, Coenen talks about fighting Cyborg, whom she was supposed to face at XMMA 7 on February 27, 2009, however the bout was canceled after Cyborg signed a new contract with Strikeforce.
“It will be a war,” Coenen stated about a potential fight with Cyborg. “But I’m really looking forward to it because she’s such a good fighter, and she really motivates me to get everything out of myself and train hard in the gym.”
Coenen also had a simple message for Cyborg: “Make it happen.”
