Dan Henderson Contract Talks Stall Over Money

As reported over the weekend, UFC president Dana White told Yahoo! Sports that contract talks between the company and Dan Henderson have gone absolutely nowhere, quickly. As with all sports deals, the sticking point seems to revolve around money, however both contend they would like to continue their partnership.

“He had a figure he believed he was worth, and we had our own figure, and we weren’t able to get together,” White confirmed.

Although talks aren’t going well at this point, in time it doesn’t mean that they won’t eventually. With the UFC about to embark on one of their busiest holiday seasons ever, it’s unlikely that inking Hendo will be the organization’s top priority during this hectic period.

Henderson knows what time it is and isn’t necessarily demanding anything to be done right now. He understands that the top of the middleweight division is at a bit of a stalemate with champion Anderson Silva on the mend from elbow surgery and Vitor Belfor already assigned as his next opponent.

If anything, Hendo already knows the UFC intends to pit him against fellow top contender Nate Marquardt as soon as they are able to put pen to paper, so there’s clearly no big hurry to jump into anything funky on his part.

“I don’t plan on fighting anywhere else,” said Henderson on a recent edition of Inside MMA in September. “It never even entered my mind that I’d be anywhere else. It’s just something myself, Dana (White) and the other guys over there at the UFC, we need to sit down and figure it out for my next fight.”
