A couple of weeks ago, it was Gina Carano stripping down for a major magazine cover. Now, it’s Marge Simpson’s turn to dawn the front page of November’s edition of Playboy Magazine. What’s this got to do with mixed martial arts you ask? Well, in Sunday night’s episode of “The Simpsons,” Marge morphed from house-mom-to-MMA fighter.
In “The Great Wife Hope” edition of the popular cartoon show, the blue-bombshell decides to pursue the violent sport after the entire male population of Springfield becomes addicted to irresistible UPKCC action (Ultimate Punch, Kick and Choke Championship).
Don’t get too aroused MMAers, Marge actually plays the role of mixed martial arts hater, as she agrees to face UPKCC president Chet Englebrick in a loser leaves town-type matchup.
“You can’t stop an entire sport,” child bully Nelson Muntz stated. “You’d need several other mothers and sympathetic school officials and clergy men.”
It was obvious that “The Simpsons” creator, Matt Groening, appreciates the sport of mixed martial arts, throwing in countless MMA references and verbiage into the episode, as well as a cameo by former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell.
They touch on Marge’s training regiment as she prepares to make her official “Septagon” debut, which includes boxing sessions with Drederick Tatum, jiu jitsu class with local instructor Akira, and wrestling with the comparable Mr. Burns.
Can you hear Marge’s footsteps, Gina? She’s comin’ for you!
