It was confirmed yesterday by M-1 Global that Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Gegard Mousasi would be participating in their co-promoted Strikeforce: Fedor vs Rogers primetime event on November 7th. However, the bout will not be for Mousasi’s Strikeforce light heavyweight title.
Strikeforce executive Mike Afromowitz confirmed Mousasi’s non-title affair with MMAjunkie.com yesterday afternoon.
Although M-1 took the liberty of volunteering former WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou as potential opponents, Afromowitz said there are a lot of names being thrown around, however nothing is close to being finalized.
“Strikeforce: Emelianenko vs. Rogers” will be taking place inside the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The show will mark the American primetime television debut of WAMMA heavyweight champ Fedor Emelianenko, and will be the first of a multi-event deal between Strikeforce and CBS.
