Vitor Belfort once held the UFC’s highly coveted light heavyweight title, but is back for middleweight gold this time and he promises that his second soiree will be much more explosive than the first.
“The Bible said that the glory of the second house is bigger than the first,” Belfort said of his return to the UFC. “I’m ready to get there. Nobody is going to take that from me. God’s giving it to me, and I’m going to receive it.”
Belfort is heavily rumored to be next in line for a shot at Anderson Silva’s strap at UFC 108 on January 2nd, however there has been no official word from the organization.
However, Dana White all-but assured that Belfort’s next scrap will be a five round affair, after he destroyed Rich Franklin at UFC 102 a couple weeks back. It took him all of 3:02 to knock out the former 185-pound champ in the first round, prompting White to immediately promote Belfort to top contender status.
“I think Vitor is ready to fight Anderson Silva [now],” White stated at the UFC 102 post-fight presser.
UFC 108 is rumored to be taking place inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
