Brock Lesnar was in attendance at UFC 102 watching the fights and . . . cheering for Randy Couture? That’s what UFC president Dana White said at the post-fight press conference. “Brock was excited. He was cheering for Randy. We’re all fans at the end of the day,” White told the media.
It might sound odd that Lesnar would openly cheer for another fighter, but if you listen closely towards the end of the fight, you could hear Lesnar sounding like he was giving Couture words of encouragement to see if he could make something happen as the buzzer sounded.
Lesnar was talking to White and attempting to negotiate another fight with Couture.
“Brock was saying, ‘If Couture wins this fight, let me fight Couture again!’ Dude, you’re alright fighting [Shane Carwin]. These guys are always wanting to be the matchmakers,” White explained.
Unfortunately with Couture’s loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, there probably won’t be another Lesnar vs. Couture bout, but Lesnar will fight the next closest thing to Couture in Shane Carwin at UFC 106.
The undefeated Carwin has been nicknamed by some as the next “Natural” and he’ll look to take Lesnar’s title away and prove that the former WWE superstar is human after all.
