Fighters Only Magazine is reporting the UFC is in the midst of arranging a lightweight title fight to headline UFC 105. Following BJ Penn’s UFC 101 victory over Kenny Florian, UFC president Dana White made it clear the Hawaiian’s next scrap would be against Diego Sanchez and it appears that the two will meet in the U.K.
According to the magazine, nothing has been finalized, however Sanchez’s camp has received the offer for the bout. No word as to whether Penn has already agreed to take on The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 winner, although Penn sensed “The Nightmare” was on his horizon.
If agreed upon, this would be Sanchez’s first UFC title shot in any of the three weight classes he has competed in. His TUF finale foe, Kenny Florian, has already notched a pair of unsuccessful title attempts.
