UFC confirmed plans to air a live preliminary fight telecast prior to UFC 103 on September 19, although the presentation will not be as complete as previously reported.
Built around preliminary bouts Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller and Drew McFedries vs. Tomasz Drwal, the one-hour Spike TV airing will lead directly into the UFC 103 pay-per-view event.
Earlier reports suggested that the entire preliminary card would air, but the commercial-free telecast will instead only be an hour with the aforementioned fights being the only ones promised for the broadcast.
Thrust into the forefront of every mainstream sports outlet following UFC 100, mixed martial arts would benefit greatly from a strong showing against Mayweather’s return fight on September 19. Headlined by Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort, the UFC event features several interesting matchups–none of them, however, are guaranteed buyrate stimuli.
