Michael Bisping recently noted on his website that he would not be facing Wanderlei Silva at UFC 105 because Silva underwent a medical procedure that will keep him out of the octagon until 2010.
“Quick update on the potential Wanderlei Silva fight,” Bisping wrote. “Unfortunately that’s not gonna happen. He’s undergone facial surgery, so obviously won’t be fighting in the near future. Rumours are he’s actually out for the rest of the year.”
MMAmania.com confirmed the report, and said the fighter will make an official announcement on his website in the next few days.
It is believed that the fighter had scar tissue removed from his face, a procedure that takes extended time to heal. Silva has yet to confirm these reports and will discuss the procedure and the healing time needed before he can return to the cage.
No opponent has been named for Bisping for UFC 105, which takes place on November 14th from Manchester, England.
